DoD Selects Evigia for Active RFID
Evigia has received our first purchase orders from Northrop Grumman to supply active Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) products to the U.S. Department of Defense under the RFID III contract vehicle. DoD awarded the contract in December 2008 to four teams including the Northrop Grumman/Evigia team, which has a ceiling of $429 million for active RFID hardware products, software and engineering services. The RFID III contract managed by PM J-AIT was established on behalf of all U.S. Armed Services, and is open to other government agencies as well as non-U.S. defense forces globally.
“We are committed to the DoD’s desire for an open standard architecture, and increased product diversity in the active RFID marketplace,” said Navid Yazdi, CEO of Evigia. “Furthermore, Evigia being part of a team of highly capable companies being primed by Northrop Grumman enables us to deliver a formidable product and solution platform that appropriately addresses DoD needs. For our part, Evigia will be delivering the ISO 18000-7 hardware product set but with increased capability, and yet with managed cost.”
Evigia is the industry leader in utilizing integrated sensor and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technologies to improve the functionality and cost of Active RFID hardware products. These advances allow significant improvement in the performance and cost of asset-management supply chains. The new designs increase network functionality, visibility, and security control, while the underlying hardware products themselves benefit from smaller size, lower power consumption, and lower cost with our solution approach. Supply-chain management networks built on these devices will enjoy an improved return-on-investment along with significantly enhanced functionality, visibility, and security control.
